We recommend for you to eat something before coming
to the office before your abortion. You should have breakfast if your
appointment is before noon and you should eat breakfast and lunch
if your appointment is after noon. We do not recommend heavy meals
or eating on your way to the office (fast-food, drive thru). We want
your food to have at least an hour to digest before coming into the
office. |
| » |
Do not take unnecessary medications on the day of your procedure.
If you take prescription medications for a medical condition, continue
to take all medications as directed by your doctor. Bring all medications
with you to your appointment. |
| » |
Do not wear any jewelry, including earrings, bracelets, rings, etc.
|
| » |
Do not bring any valuables (expensive sunglasses, PDA’s, laptops,
or large amounts of cash). We will not be responsible for items left
unattended in the waiting room or other areas in the office. |
| » |
Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes and slip-on shoes. Do not
wear complicated outfits. |
| » |
Make sure you wear regular underwear on the day of your procedure
so you can go home wearing a maxi pad. No G-strings or thong underwear
are suggested. |
| » |
Please do not bring children to the clinic. Expect
to be in the office for 2 to 3 hours for your entire visit. Your ride
may drop you off and return back to pick you up. We must have their
contact numbers before you are called back for surgery. |
| » |
Due to limited seating in our lobby, please only bring one
other adult with you to your appointment. |
| » |
No males are allowed to go back into the ultrasound room or in
the OR during surgery. |
| » |
We accept cash, debit, and all major credit cards. The owner of
the credit card MUST be here to sign and MUST present a valid photo
ID. We do not accept checks, travelers’ checks, or money orders.
We do not accept credit card payments over the phone. Payment is due
before services are rendered. |
| » |
The fee you pay at the time of your visit includes PREGNANCY TESTING
(if requested), ULTRASOUND, LABORATORY WORK-UP, YOUR CHOICE OF ANESTHESIA,
SURGERY, RHOGAM (if further than 7 weeks pregnant), MEDICATIONS GIVEN
ON THE DAY OF THE SURGERY, POST-OPERATIVE MEDICATIONS, AND YOUR POST-OPERATIVE
CARE. |
| » |
If you are too early pregnant to complete your abortion on the day
of your procedure (What is considered
too early?), we will refund everything you paid except
$100.00. This money is for your ultrasound/and or laboratory testing.
This money will stay on your account and you will not re-pay this
amount on your next visit. We will repeat your ultrasound and laboratory
testing when you return at no additional cost. |
| » |
Do not schedule work, school, or other commitments on the day of
your procedure. |
| » |
When you will be able to go back to work will depend on how far
along you are into your pregnancy. Most patients return back to work
within 24-48 hours. Please ask one of the staff members for a discreet
work note if needed. |
After Your Visit
For one week after your abortion, avoid heavy lifting and strenuous activity.
After this time you may return to your regular schedule.
Should you develop any problems aside from light bleeding and minimal
cramping, do not hesitate to call us. We are the best people to handle
post-abortion problems in the safest and least costly manner. Should you
go to an emergency room for treatment, the hospital staff may not be sympathetic
to your circumstances. Therefore, when possible, we ask that you call
us before requesting care from another provider.
Follow your after-care instructions carefully to insure that you have
the best outcome.
We have a physician on call at all times.
For urgent problems: 24 Hours a Day – (702) 892-0307
We continue to provide ongoing care for you after your surgery. For minor
or non-emergency questions, call the center during our regular hours of
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Saturday.
You may eat a light meal after leaving the clinic.
For the next two weeks avoid:
• Tampons - Use sanitary napkins/pads
• Intercourse
• Douching
Bleeding may last only a few hours or it may persist, for several weeks.
If your bleeding soaks more than 2 pads in one hour, call us. It is normal
for some women to experience some cramping and clotting, but if it is
excessive, call us.
Start your antibiotics the evening of your abortion. This is to prevent
infection.
It is important for you to wait at least 3 weeks to do a pregnancy test
after your abortion. It is normal for a pregnancy test to remain positive
to 2-3 weeks after the abortion. You should schedule a follow-up appointment
with us anytime between 3 weeks and no more than 6 weeks after your abortion.
If you have not had a period by 8 weeks after the procedure, you need
an examination to further evaluate this circumstance.
This visit is free of charge. We will do a Pap Smear at this time of your
follow-up for the reduced rate of $50. If you wait past 6.6 weeks to request
a Pap Smear you will be charged the normal fee of $150.
